Job Title: UJ Jointer (Fibre Optic Cable)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced UJ Jointer to carry out fibre optic cable jointing, fusion splicing, testing, and repair activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling Universal Joints (UJ), ensuring high-quality fibre connections, conducting optical testing, and maintaining accurate project documentation while complying with quality and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities

  • Perform Universal Joint (UJ) assembly for fibre optic cable systems.
  • Carry out fibre optic fusion splicing and termination.
  • Prepare and install fibre optic joint closures and accessories.
  • Conduct OTDR, optical power meter, and continuity testing.
  • Diagnose and rectify fibre optic cable faults.
  • Read and interpret fibre allocation plans, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Ensure all jointing work meets project specifications and quality standards.
  • Maintain splice records, test reports, and installation documentation.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate fusion splicers and fibre optic testing equipment.
  • Adhere to HSE policies, quality management procedures, and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Technical Certificate in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in fibre optic cable jointing and fusion splicing.
  • Hands-on experience with Universal Joint (UJ) assembly is preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of fusion splicers, OTDRs, optical power meters, and other fibre optic testing equipment.
  • Strong understanding of fibre optic cable installation, testing, maintenance, and fault diagnosis.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and fibre allocation plans.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
