Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Automation Technician to support the maintenance and reliable operation of terminal handling equipment at a container terminal in Gdynia, Poland.

  • Troubleshoot and maintain PLC, electrical control, sensors, drives, motors, and automation systems.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and respond to equipment breakdowns.
  • Diagnose electrical and automation faults using technical drawings, PLC diagnostics, and testing equipment.
  • Support the commissioning, testing, modification, and improvement of automation and electrical systems.
  • Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and operations teams to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out safely and in accordance with site procedures.

Requirements

  • Diploma or technical qualification in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial automation systems, PLCs, electrical controls, sensors, VFDs/drives, and motor control.
  • Good ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills, with practical experience in preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Experience in port terminals, crane maintenance, or heavy industrial facilities is highly desirable.
  • Candidates with experience on container cranes, steel mill cranes, mining equipment, automated manufacturing lines, power plants, or other heavy industrial machinery are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with PLC platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Mitsubishi, or similar is an advantage.
  • Good command of English and willing to work in a terminal environment, including shifts when required.
